A Very Special Mad Horse Holiday Variety Revue! [play]
MY ALL TIME FAVORITE ANIMAL INVITED ME TO THIS PLAY, I HAD TO DRIVE STRAIGHT FROM WORK TO SOUTH PORTLAND, AND IT WAS SUPER WORTH IT. IT WAS A VERY GOOD 1960S CHRISTMAS SPECIAL PARODY THING, FRAMED AS A DREAM A VERY FUNNY BUT VERY MEMEY AND DATED DONALD TRUMP IMPERSONATION WAS HAVING. I REALLY LIKE THAT A BUNCH OF THE ACTS WERE LEGITIMATELY GOOD, LIKE THE VAUDEVILLE GUY COULD HAVE BEEN A JOKE OF HIM BEING TERRIBLE BUT HE WAS ACTUALLY SUPER GOOD AT PHYSICAL COMEDY AND AT PLAYING AN ACCORDION. ALSO I LOVE THAT I HAD NO IDEA THAT BING CROSBY HAD A REPUTATION AS AN ANGRY MAN SO THAT SEEMED LIKE SUCH A RANDOM CHARACTERIZATION, WHERE HE WAS SO MAD THAT I WAS ACTIVELY AVERTING MY EYES WHEN HE WAS GESTURING AT THE AUDIENCE JUST SO HE WOULDN'T POTENTIALLY YELL AT ME.
PS. THIS PLAY HAD A BUFFET! OF 1960S GOOD HOUSEKEEPING STYLE FOOD. AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEY PLAYED IT SUPER STRAIGHT INSTEAD OF MAKING IT LIKE HALLOWEEN FOOD THAT EXAGGERATED THE GOOFINESS. LIKE THEY JUST HAD ASPIC AND IT WAS AN ATTEMPT TO REALLY MAKE IT. AND THEY HAD JUST, ALL THE GOOFY STUFF. PLAYED ENTIRELY ERNISTLY, AND SOME OF IT WAS SURPRISINGLY GOOD AND SOME OF IT WAS PRETTY BAD AND I'M A SUPER BIG FAN OF A PLAY HAVING THEMED FOOD JUST OUT TO EAT.
