Night at the Wax Museum [play]

Night at the Wax Museum [play] OH MAN, THAT THING WHERE IF I GO TO THE STUDENT PLAY I GET LIKE HALF A DAY AT WORK, BUT THE PLAY IS 3 AND A HALF HOURS LONG AND HAS A CAST OF LIKE 75 CHARACTERS AND IS INCOMPREHENSIBLE.   PS.  I REALLY WANT TO RAZZ THE PLOT BUT KNOW THIS IS A PLAY STARING 10 YEAR OLDS MEANT TO BE WATCHED BY 5 YEAR OLDS. BUT I ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY HAVE TO SAY THE LIZZY BORDEN/HALLOWEEN PLOT IS THE MOST WILD THING I HAVE EVER SEEN AND THE RESOLUTION DOES NOT DO ANYTHING TO MAKE IT LESS INSANE.

The Vegetarian [book, audiobook]

The Vegetarian [book, audiobook] I DON'T KNOW, I FEEL VERY JUVENILE FOR THINKING THIS, BECAUSE THIS IS A SERIOUS AND AWARD WINNING BOOK, BUT I CAN NOT ESCAPE HOW EVERYTHING ABOUT THE STRUCTURE OF THE WRITING HERE IS SO ' REDDIT CREEPY PASTA'. I MEAN, I GET THAT THE REASON IT FEELS THAT WAY IS THAT CREEPY PASTA WRITING JUST TAKING THE MOST SHOCKING OR EXTREME THINGS AND USING THEM CHEAPLY AND THIS WAS TRYING TO BE SERIOUS ABOUT IT, BUT IT FELT LIKE IT SOURED ME ON THE BOOK. THIS ISN'T REALLY EVEN A HORROR BOOK, BUT JUST THE WHOLE STRUCTURE OF A GUY WITH A WIFE AND THE WIFE ISN'T A CHARACTER BECAUSE SHE'S *SO ENTRANCED* BY A GIMMICKY THING THAT SHE CAN ONLY SAY *CRYPTIC REPEATED SENTENCES* AND THE HUSBAND POV NARRATOR DOING *SHOCKING THINGS* WHILE CALMLY NARRATING JUST SCREAM CREEPYPASTA WRITING.  PS. MAN, I WAS GOING TO TALK ABOUT HOW IT'S THREE PARTS AND HOW THE LAST PART FELT MORE GROUNDED, WHERE INSTEAD OF THE PREDICTABLE CREEPYPASTA ENDING THAT SO OBVIOU

Ghoulies III: Ghoulies go to College [movie]

Ghoulies III: Ghoulies go to College [movie] THIS MOVIE ABSOLUTELY SUCKS, BUT IT KNEW WHAT IT WAS SO IT'S GREAT. IT DOESN'T EVEN ATTEMPT TO NOT BE AWFUL AND STUFF LIKE "SHE WAS ON NEWHART" END UP BEING WAY MORE FUNNY FOR IT. (BUT WHY DOES EVERYONE CALLED PRANKS "YANKS"? DID ANYONE EVER DO THAT?) PS. I LIKE THE GHOULIES EVOLUTION WHERE THE VHS COVER OF THE FIRST ONE HAD A TOILET ON IT SO EVERY GHOULIE MOVIE IS MORE TOILET BASED. LIKE THE GHOULIES IN THIS ARE SEALED IN A MAGIC TOILET LIKE RITA REPULA WAS IN A SPACE DUMPSTER.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners [anime]

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners [anime] MAN, EVERYTHING STUDIO TRIGGER DOES IS ALWAYS AMAZING AND FOR THE FIRST 60% OF THIS THAT INCLUDES THIS, BUT GOD THIS GOES OFF A CLIFF AFTER THE TIME SKIP. I GET THE GENERAL SHAPE OF THE STORY THEY WERE GOING FOR, BUT IT JUST FEELS LIKE IT LOST EVERYTHING THAT WAS MAKING IT GOOD AND EVERYTHING GOT WAY DUMBER AND WORSE. IT IS KINDA NICE THAT THIS FOREVER WILL BE A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR WHEN PEOPLE ASK TO THINK OF LIKE, A STORY WHERE THE CHOSEN ONE TURNS OUT TO NOT BE, OR SOMETHING. IT JUST DOESN'T FEEL LIKE IT HAD A GOOD STORY ARC FOR DAVID THOUGH, LIKE, IT'S NOT A RISE AND FALL THAT FELT LIKE IT WAS FOR ANY REASON. I DON'T KNOW. C- PS. I ACCEPT THE WEIRD DOUBLE TALK ON THE PHONE CALLS IS SOME CYBERTECH THING, THAT FEELS LIKE OKAY WORLD BUILDING BUT I HATE HOW SPORADIC IT WAS. KIWI DID IT ALL THE TIME BUT THEN IT FEELS LIKE THEY ONLY REMEMBERED ABOUT IT IN THE SECOND TO LAST EPISODE AND SUDDENLY EVERYONE WAS DOING IT.

The Invincible [book, audiobook]

The Invincible [book, audiobook] THIS BOOK IS REALLY NEAT. LIKE, PLOT WISE IT'S SOME PRETTY STANDARD SCI-FI. THE GENERAL FRAMEWORK WOULD FIT PRETTY WELL AS AN ORIGINAL STAR TREK EPISODE. BUT IT WAS WRITTEN IN 1962 AND JUST ABSOLUTELY FULL OF SCI-FI CONCEPTS THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST, OR NEARLY THE FIRST, BOOK TO EVER COME UP WITH.  IT'S REALLY INTERESTING TO READ, A LOT OF THE IDEAS ARE MORE OR LESS NOTHING NOW AND NOT A BIG DEAL, BUT IT'S NEAT, A LOT OF SCI-FI PREDICTS FUTURE REAL THINGS, BUT THIS BOOK LIKE, PREDICTS THINGS THAT ARE SCI-FI, BUT WELL BEFORE SCI-FI THOUGHT OF THEM.  PS. THIS IS A GOOD BOOK FOR "TRANSLATED BOOK" BECAUSE I AM SURE THE CONSTANT USE OF THE PREFIX "NECRO" TO MEAN "UNLIVING" SOUNDS RIGHT IN POLISH BUT MAKES EVERYTHING NEEDLESSLY AND HILARIOUSLY BADASS SOUNDING WHEN PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT NECROBIOLOGY AND THE NECROSPHERE ALL THE TIME FOR THINGS NOT NEARLY THAT DRAMATIC.

Astroboy [movie]

Astroboy [movie] I WATCHED THIS BECAUSE IT WAS ON SOME LIST OF 'LESSER APPRECIATED NICK CAGE MOVIES" OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, AND YEAH. IT'S FUNNY, THIS ISN'T REALLY ANY DIFFERENT THAN THE ASTRO BOY ORIGIN STORY EVER IS, BUT IT BEING NICK CAGE MAKES IT SO BRUTAL SEEMING. ALSO, YOU REALLY THINK WITH THE WHOLE THING OF THE CORES ABSORBING PEOPLE THAT WOULD BE A SETUP FOR THE BLUE CORE TO ABSORB TOBY TO SAVE HIM FROM THE RED CORE, TO JUSTIFY ASTROBOY, BUT NOPE, THEY JUST SUPER KILL TOBY RIGHT OUT. KABLAMO! PS. ALSO INSTEAD OF DOING AN ASTROBOY STORY THE STORY IS JUST SORT OF KIND OF BATTLE ANGEL FOR KIDS? WHAT?

The Illumination [book, audiobook]

The Illumination [book, audiobook] THIS BOOK IS REALLY BEAUTIFUL. THE BASE PREMISE IS JUST ONE DAY PAIN STARTS INHERENTLY GIVING OFF LIGHT. BUT WHY IT'S GOOD IS HOW MUCH THE BOOK THEN IS ONLY EVER TANGENTIALLY ABOUT THAT AND IS REALLY THE STORY OF A SERIES OF PEOPLE WHO OWN A DIARY OF LOVE NOTES THAT KEEPS PASSING AROUND. THERE IS VERY FEW PLOT POINTS THAT REQUIRE PAIN TO BE GIVING OFF LIGHT BUT IT JUST IS SO WELL WRITTEN AS A BACKDROP. I LOVE HOW SMALL SCALE THE STORIES ARE, THE AUTHOR HAVING A HORRIBLE BUT VERY TRIVIAL ILLNESS FITS THE BOOK SO WELL. ALSO I REALLY DO LIKE HOW MUCH EVERYONE'S ENTIRE LIFE IS DRIVEN BY HEARING OR MISHEARING A PHRASE THEN HAVING THAT SET OF WORDS DRIVE THEIR ENTIRE LIFE FOREVER.  PS. OOF THOUGH, PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE ENDING AND READING THE LAST CHAPTER I WASN'T GETTING WHAT THE BIG DEAL IS. THE LAST CHARACTER WAS ONE OF THE BEST ONES. BUT MAN, WHAT A GARBAGE LAST PAGE.  IT'S NOT EVEN THAT IT'S AN UNHAPPY ABRUPT ENDING. A BIG THE
